House Groups & Small Groups
This section of the site provides more information on the various house groups and small groups that meet. These tend to be held weekly and are informal opportunities to meet and develop in faith. This document provides current information about the the groups.
CURRENT GROUPS
Monday Morning Women’s Group
A group of ladies of all ages meet at 9.30am in the church (term time only) for coffee and chat followed by a Bible study and opportunity to share and pray together. The group finishes at 11.30am and babies and young children are also welcome in the group.
This term begins on Monday 16th January and our focus this half term will be on the Sunday sermon series ‘What was Jesus Like?’. This will be a great opportunity to discuss the message preached on Sunday and spend some time reflecting on what it means for us. We aim to grow together in our faith no matter what stage we are at and would love anyone new to come and join us. To find out more please email Tara or Jen.
The Wednesday Good Book Group
Please watch this space for news of the Autumn term and in the meantime If you would like to know more please email Fiona.
St Peter's Wednesday Bible Study Group
This group (of about twelve members) is hosted by Phil and Sandi and meets in the church every Wednesday at 8pm to chat, pray and read. It is a homely atmosphere and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Each meeting lasts about two hours.
Typically the group reads one or two chapters from a book in the Bible each week and then discuss the meaning. Currently the group is reading John's gospel. The group may pray before or after and the worship is part of the group's invitation to the Spirit.
Each week a summary of the latest meeting is sent out to group members which keeps everyone connected. The group runs throughout the year and has been well attended since it began after the 2010 St Peter's Alpha course.
More information coming soon but in the meantime if you are interested in joining this group or finding out more please email Phil.
Group before Gospel
The St Peter's Choir meets every other Tuesday (next on 28th February) at around 6.30 for study and then start singing for an hour 7pm.
The Choir was started in 2011 by our talented Musical Director Peter Yarde Martin. From humble beginnings we have developed into a strong team of singers and we are growing by the week. This has been a fantastic time of both hard work and terrific fun making a great sound for God. We often lead the congregation in a song of Worship at the beginning of our Sunday Service and recently sang three songs at the opening of an exhibition of paintings by Monika Thomas.
We recently decided to introduce a time of study and prayer before the rehearsal and we are currently looking at some of the Psalms specifically Psalms 95/98 and 100 all of which talk of Worship.
We are always looking to increase our size and sound and no prior experience is necessary. Please come along and join us in raising a pleasing sound for The Lord. For more information please email Maggie Phillips
OCCASIONAL GROUPS
Open House Group
Half way through each term we host an Open House Group in St Peter’s led by Rev Mark Hargreaves where we explore a big topic such as “What’s the Point of the Old Testament” involving a larger group of friends, neighbours and members of St Peter’s.
Wonderful Women evening
Once or twice a year a Wonderful Women evening is hosted in the home of one of our parishoners. Please watch this space for forthcoming gatherings which are an an opportunity to socialise with all the wonderful women from the St Peter's congregation. The gatherings usually include a bring-and-share supper and close with a time for prayer and a short discussion about the future of the church. Everyone is welcome. For more information or to RSVP please email Jean or Elisa.
