PORTOBELLO ORCHESTRA

AT ST. PETER'S ON SATURDAY 2ND DECEMBER AT 7.30 P.M.

Talented young violinist Iain Gibbs joins the Portobello orchestra to perform Sibelius' masterly and exhilarating violin concerto in D minor. In the second half of the concert the orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky's first symphony, Winter Daydreams, written when he was 26, the symphony if full of beautiful melodies, with moments of high drama contrasted with gentler lyrical ideas. The orchestration is highly coloured, and the whole work is infused with an infectious vitality.

TUESDAY EVENING GOSPEL CHOIR

Open to all ages and abilities, the gospel choir is a lively and friendly group of about 20-30 singers. The music is easy to pick up, all taught by ear and very rewarding to sing. Anyone is welcome to join in, no experience necessary. Email our Musical Director Peter Yarde-Martin if you would like more information.
