ST PETER'S NURSERY

“Whoever welcomes one of these children in my name welcomes me” Mark 9:37

20th Anniversary
2011 was a special year for St. Peter’s Nursery - it marked 20 years of providing affordable community nursery education. Please go to the 'latest news and pictures' link opposite for information about how we celebrated this birthday and thanked God for all he has enabled us to achieve.

St Peter’s Nursery is a community nursery that offers accessible nursery education on a not-for-profit basis

By providing a happy, caring, secure environment, we at St Peter’s aim to ensure children’s first experience of learning away from their home is both positive and fun. Our belief is that children should feel emotionally secure and develop a positive self image. Learning through play enhances this and gives a firm foundation for life-long learning.

You can download a history of the nursery here.

Partnership with parents and carers is of paramount importance to us. We have an open door policy and encourage family involvement in all aspects of nursery life.

What will your child learn at nursery?

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which is a play-based framework that puts the child at the centre of his/her learning. Our activities are based on the six areas of learning and development:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development

 At the Nursery:

  • We enjoy a staff to child ratio that far exceeds the statutory required minimum
  • We have a small outdoor courtyard for gardening, water play, painting and outdoor play
  • We have twice-daily access to Ladbroke Gardens which is one of the largest private residential squares in London
  • We have weekly ‘music and movement’ sessions with a dedicated specialist team
  • We use praise, bible stories, singing and worship sessions for children and their families to support a Christian education
  • We arrange regular trips and neighbourhood excursions as learning opportunities
  • We have an active Parents’ Committee and many opportunities for parental involvement.  Oversight and support of the Nursery is provided by the Nursery Management Committee (chaired by the Vicar, Mark Hargreaves).

National Day Nurseries Association is the national charity and membership association specifically for nurseries. NDNA provides nursery support, information and advice, childcare training and a quality improvement scheme, e-Quality Counts. NDNA supports nurseries and the early years workforce so that they can provide best-quality childcare and early learning for children.
